Marleah Liddle

Marleah Liddle, vocal performer, received her B.A. from Columbia College Chicago in 2006, where she studied music, voice, dance and theater under Sheldon Patinkin, Bobbie Willson and Stephanie Shaw, among others. In addition, she studied voice under John Komasa, and appeared in several musicals (Les Miserables, Into the Woods, Pajama Game, West Side Story, etc.). After the musical revue I Wish I Was In Love Again, Luther Goins of Actor's Equity called Marleah "the next Judy Garland." With the exception of opera, Marleah sings any genre of music. Music runs in her family bloodline all the way to Naples, Italy, where her famous second cousin, singer and songwriter, Pepino Dicapra lives. In other words, her musical talent and education began way before college. Furthermore, she was a lead singer for the blues/rock band Satori, performing at the Double Door and Wise Fools Pub, as well as Davenport's Cabaret Bar with Bluemoon Studio Theater Company. Marleah is also a lead singer in Waldo Ocana's Cuban Essence Afro-Cuban band performing all over the Chicagoland area. Currently, she can be seen every Thursday at Eastbank Club at Eastbank Club with pianist Robert Solone, performing a wide variety of music. She also sings at other restaurants and clubs (Volare Oakbrook Terrace, Spiaggia, 3160), weddings, black ties, and fundraisers (Vassar, etc.) for diverse audiences of all ages and backgrounds. In addition, she is a recording artist and songwriter, currently finalizing her first album of originals to be released in 2009. Her music can be described as acoustic folk/rock mixed with a touch of soulful blues. Her three octave, versatile voice has been compared to Stevie Nicks, Judy Garland, Dusty Springfield, Ella Fitzgerald and Annie Lennox. Her prolific heartfelt songwriting is expressed with blunt humor, mysterious dark melodies and warm harmonies. Taxi Music, an independent A&R company wrote about one of her submissions: "There haven't been enough songs with female vocals viable for listing. [Marleah's] vocal puts the cherry on top...[her] vocal fills a void in the submissions I've heard before!"
